Luly Family:  San Diego Fires.

I received this email from my daughter Stacie Luly.

It is confusing as to who is who but I will try.
The story was sent to my daughter Stacie from her friend Shanin.
Shanin's mother in law Carole sent it to Shanin.

(There is a family tree with pictures at the bottom.)
Stacie is married to Robert Luly.
Robert has brothers Larry, Tim, Steve and Scott (more..).

Robert also has two aunts in the San Diego area who at one
point believed that they had each lost their home to the fires.

This is the article that Shanin forwarded to me.
Irv is Denise's stepfather. She is married to Steve.
It was Tim's house that had fire damage and Larry is the
one that saved it. Scott in Montana wasn't involved.
Robert drove up to Valley Center Sunday morning at the
same time Larry did. They were going to help Tim clear
some trees and remove some of their personal property.
When Robert arrived he couldn't really see Tim's house
because of the smoke, and the wind was really bad.
He thought it was too late, so he turned around and
brought Larry's girls home (Amber and Nicole). But as
the article says, Larry stayed and saved the house.

Hi there,
How are you doing? How was the river? Lets play soon.
Here is something Wayne's mom forwarded to me, have you seen it?
Talk to you soon.

Irv Erdos' daughter married one of the Luly brothers - this is an article in our paper about Tim.

Fire couldn't extinguish neighbors' spirit

Irv Erdos

By: Irv Erdos - North County Times

Like everyone else, I started calling family and friends as the fire grew more ominous.
When I reached my daughter in Temecula, she told me that her family was in no danger,
but it appeared her husband's brother, Tim, had lost his home in Valley Center.

Tim lives in the Lake Wohlford area. Like so many other residents of that community,
Tim tried desperately to keep the fire at bay.
But Tim had his children with him, and he had a good handle on priorities, if not the flames.

By the time he got everyone in the car, the garage had already caught fire.
Under the circumstances, he knew he had little choice but to surrender the house to the flames.

What Tim didn't know was that while he was driving down the hill to safety, his brother,
Larry, was headed up that same hill, racing toward the house.
They actually passed each other on the road but failed to realize it because of the poor visibility.

When Larry got to the house, he grabbed a hose and fought the flames until, miraculously,
he was able to extinguish the fire. The garage was lost, along with its contents,
including two boats. But except for one slightly singed area, the house was OK.

Tim was certain his home had been destroyed and was still trying to come to grips with the loss
when he finally learned the incredible news: His brother had saved his house.
